- Chapter Operations
Upon accepting a Bid, the potential member must participate in the Pleding Ceremony before they are nationally recognized as a New Member of the Chi Phi Fraternity. The Pledging Ceremony is an open ceremony, where friends and relatives of the new member may watch, where the Alpha lectures about the history of Chi Phi and accepts the oath from all New Members who choose to join the fraternity.
Upon accepting their oath, all New Members will receive a chakett, an emblem that is worn during formal occasions. The chakettrepresents the commitment that the New Member has made in pledging the Chi Phi Fraternity, and
how they will work towards learning and demonstarting the Chi Phi Values.
The pledging ceremony generally takes place within three weeks from JUMP Day, depending on scheduling and operational logistics.
