Who can join?

You need to be a member of dixon in order to be part of the club. That being said, any OSU student or affiliate can join our team!

We invite anyone who has ever been interested in a triathlon to join us. We have people who have never done or only completed one or two races. We also have multiple time Ironmen! Our goal is to help you become the best triathlete you can be, whether you are just starting or have been racing for years. Being part of a team provides a great social environment to train in and have fun. So come join us!

  • But I don't know how to swim: We have coaches that can teach you how to swim. They are great!
  • But I've never done a triathlon. I don't know if I can: We are happy to have first timers come aboard! We will help you make a training plan and practice so you can complete your first race.
  • But I don't have a bike: Come to spin class in the Fall and Winter. In the spring, we will do a team order and you can purchase a bike for less money (after volunteering of course). Often, we have members with multiple bikes who may be willing to lend you one for a race if needed.
  • Races are expensive. I can't afford it:We work hard to fundraise enough money to pay for your races. Check out our race page to see all the local races you can do!
  • I can't make it to all the practices. I don't have that much time to commit: Practices are optional. If you can't make the times we have set, you can work out whenever you do have time. Often, emails will be sent out for workouts at times other than the usualy practice times. Feel free to email the list to find a work out buddy. The only major commitment we ask for is your time at the beaver fever and beaver freezer. That is approximately 7 hours on a Saturday in April and the same on a Sunday in October (See the race page for more information on the race dates).

And the list goes on. You tell me your excuse, and I'll let you know how we make sure you can join, even if you have hesitations.

What do I need to do to sign up?

To join the list serve:

To become involved in the club, the very first thing you should do is join the list serve. The list serve is the means of communication within the club. Work outs meetings and all other inquiries are sent out via the list serve. Anyone can join the list serve.

Visit the web site http://lists.oregonstate.edu/mailman/listinfo/triclub or click http://bit.ly/triclublist.

Fill out the form with your email and password. If you are an onid user, you can use your same password.

Note: The last question before selection the subscribe button is: "Would you like to receive list mail batched in a daily digest?" By selecting no (default), you will receive individual emails in real time. By selecting yes, you will receive 1-2 emails a day usually around noon.

A lot of emails are sent through the list serve and if you don't like to receive multiple emails a day, the digest is a good way to lessen the impact on your inbox. You can always change this option by revisiting the above site and editing your options at the bottom of the page.

Also, if you receive digest emails, you will need your user name and password to access attachments. Just click the attachment link and put in your information to view the file.

Please note: There are nearly 400 people on the list serve, and your email goes to all of them. Please use discretion and appropriate language.

Dues:

To become an active member of the club and to be able to attend member only events, trips and workouts, and to be eligible for race reimbursement, you must be a dues paying member.

Dues are $40 annually due in the fall. If you join late in the year and pay dues in the winter or spring it will still be $40. Also, please be prepared to pay for the following year on time in the fall.

Dues can be paid by cash or chech (made out to Oregon State Triathlon Club). DO NOT PLACE YOUR DUES in the club box in the sport club office in Dixon. PLEASE give your dues directly to a club officer. It is best if you put them in an envelope with your name so we don't get it mixed up. You can pay at practice, at a meeting or you can set you a time to meet with the treasurer.

Waivers/Rec Sports:

In addition to paying dues, you must sign a waiver to be a part of the club. The waiver is available in the sports club office where the club mail box is.

You can also go to the following link: https://apps.ideal-logic.com/osusli

  1. Login with your ONID. If you are not an OSU affiliate but do have a Dixon membership, the club president or vice president can add you to the system. Please email one of them to proceed.
  2. Click the clubs tab at the top left of your browser.
  3. Search for triathlon
  4. When Found, Click on + Join Now
  5. Fill out the information and click next and eventually submit.

You will not be allowed to participate in club activities if you do not have a waiver on file.

Volunteering:

The Club provides many benefits to members, including race reimbursements and discounts from our sponsors. In order to be eligible for these benefits, we require members to volunteer at the Beaver Fever and the Beaver Freezer. Accomodations can be made for exceptional circumstances on a case-by-case basis. Please contact the volunteer coordinators.
