I grew up exploring the Sierra Nevada mountains of California where I developed a deep connection to the natural world. I also grew up in the San Joaquin Valley of California - a place where the water-food-energy-health nexus is at the forefront of daily life. I was aware of water issues from a young age so it seemed natural to study water. I studied earth science and environmental studies at UC Santa Cruz, then worked at a University of California research station in Sequoia National Park for 3 years before joining the WRGP at OSU.
