Pi Tau Sigma is the mechanical engineering honors society, and as such, extends offers of invitation to mechanical engineering students exclusively. Normally, qualified candidates must be in their junior or senior year. Only the top quarter of the junior class and top third of the senior class can be admitted to join Pi Tau Sigma. Upon meeting the requirements and showing an interest in the group, initiates must pledge an oath during the ceremony and pay a one time fee for a life long membership. Some of our most esteemed faculty are also Pi Tau Sigma members.

The objectives of Pi Tau Sigma are presented to initiates and we ask that as new members, they take the following points of our group to heart. As members, we must:

  • Foster high ideals in the engineering profession
  • Stimulate and support departmental activities
  • Promote professional welfare
  • Develop leadership and citizenship
