Biography

I was raised in suburban Philadelphia where I started volunteering early on in my college career with grassroots organizations to restore tributaries of the Chesapeake Bay Watershed. Originally focused on environmental science and restoration efforts, I held an internship with Keep Georgia Beautiful while I attended the University of West Georgia. During that time I designed and installed a rain garden for the UWG campus in order to restore local riparian health, mitigate floodwaters, and improve water quality of the Little Tallapoosa River. I served as the county and university representative for the First Annual Georgia Campus Sustainability Meeting headed by the World Wildlife Federation. I moved to Montana a year later and presented group research on the "Effects of salt tectonics on fluvial sediments in the Chinle Formation" of Moab, UT. Before settling in the best state ever (by my standards) with my husband I spent a year in California where I worked most recently as an aquatic toxicology lab technician for a small private firm outside of San Francisco. I will be spending this summer working as the water quality intern at Devil's Lake Water Improvement District in Lincoln City. I'm loving everything that Oregon has to offer and I'm excited to learn more about water issues and become involved in many activities especially volunteer work.
